Are you going to spend any time driving highway 1 while you're out there? I'd recommend it. Nice and relaxing. 
And if you're in the mood for sushi, go up to Mountain View and go to Sono Sushi. (take el camino real or central expressway)

I did drive a whole lot of highway 1. Most of the way up Northern California. I drove the 101 to get out of the city, but made a shot to the coast soon after.
